Is it better to cook a turkey in a bag or not?
We tested this with and without an oven roasting bag; the turkey had moist meat and crisped skin either way, but the bagged version cooked faster, was easier to clean up and softened the garlic more thoroughly.
There is no need to reheat the turkey.

How long do you cook a turkey in an oven bag?
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Rinse turkey and remove giblets. Salt and pepper to taste.
- Sprinkle the bottom of a turkey size oven bag with flour.
- Bake 3 to 3 1/2 hours, or until internal temperature of the thigh meat reaches 180 degrees F (85 degrees C).
Can you use a turkey bag in a roasting oven?
Some bag makers, such as Reynolds, recommend never using them in roaster ovens because the bag can melt during the cooking process. However, if used with care and planning, cooking bags can work in some roasting ovens, as long as the oven is not too small.
