Can you overcook beef brisket in slow cooker?
Thinking you can’t overcook it.
The goal with most meat made in the slow cooker is that fall-apart, shred-with-forks texture, but braised slow cooker brisket is not trying to be pulled beef.
If you were to hold the brisket over the slow cooker with tongs, it should bend readily in the middle, but not break.
How many hours does it take to cook a brisket?
Sear brisket directly over medium coals or near a hot fire: 20 minutes per side. After searing, allow approximately 1 hour of cooking time per pound. Slow cook at a low temperature of 250 ˚F. Measure cooking temperatures in a closed pit or grill with an oven thermometer set near the brisket.
Can you put meat in a slow cooker without liquid?
Braising liquid: Slow cookers work by creating steam that braises the meat until it’s tender, which is why you can’t make a roast in a slow cooker with no liquid.
How do you prepare brisket?
Season the raw brisket on both sides with the rub. Place in a roasting pan and roast, uncovered, for 1 hour. Add beef stock and enough water to yield about 1/2 inch of liquid in the roasting pan. Lower oven to 300 degrees F, cover pan tightly and continue cooking for 3 hours, or until fork-tender.
